Day 627 [June 20/10 local time] -- 74 nm to go

Today's Report
June 20/10 1300 Honolulu Time

Position:  21°44'N, 157°01'W (Approaching Honolulu)

Remaining distance to Yokohama finish:  13.6%

A good day achieving 98 nm, and marked by his Waypont 1 turn to the SW to begin his approach to Honolulu.

He now judges his ETA at the rendezvous point as 0500 Monday morning local time, and plans to wait (or "jog" in place) until Dave Cooper and his helpers arrive in the tender a bit later in the morning.

Dave said they probably will tie up to NBSDIII amidships to serve as an auxiliary engine, then let Saito-san steer for both boats in tandem. This works better for two boats of disproportionate size: NBSDIII is 56 feet, while the tender boat is just 15 feet, but with a powerful engine.

They will then go up a short channel and enter Keehi Lagoon to proceed to Keehi Marina.

Winds yesterday were 13-18 kts out of the E.  The current was 0.7 out of the SE, and will reduce to 0.3 kts out of the SSE as he approaches Honolulu from the east.

He now has 74 nm remaining to reach his Hawaii stopover at Keehi Marina, making 98 nm overground yesterday.
